This Privacy Policy explains how Stonefields AI Labs Limited (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the PerfumOS mobile application (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Account information: Your email address and password which we use to create your account to log in.
- Onboarding responses: Answers you provide during setup (such as scent preferences, reasons for wearing fragrance, budget range, and how you found us), used to personalize your experience.
- Content you create: Perfumes you scan, save to your collection or wishlist, reviews and ratings you write, and questions you ask our AI assistant.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage and analytics data: How you interact with the App, collected through Google Firebase, to help us understand and improve the product.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and similar technical details.
Camera and photos:
When you scan a perfume, the App accesses your camera or photo library to capture an image. That image is sent to our third-party AI provider (OpenAI) to identify the fragrance. The image is used only for identification and is not retained by us after processing. OpenAI’s handling of the image is governed by its own data policies.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and operate the App’s features (scanning, recommendations, collections, reviews);
- Authenticate your login via one-time passcode;
- Personalize recommendations and your scent profile;
- Process and manage subscriptions;
- Analyze usage to improve the App;
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, or support requests;
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
Third-Party Services
We rely on trusted third-party providers to operate the App. Each processes data only as needed to provide their service:
- RevenueCat — manages subscriptions and purchase status.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — process subscription payments. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
- OpenAI — powers our AI assistant (“Ask Whizzy”) and may process the text of your questions and fragrance data to generate responses.
- Resend — sends authentication (OTP) and transactional emails.
- Google Firebase — provides analytics and related app services.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosts our servers and database.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these providers. We are not responsible for their independent practices.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With the service providers listed above, to operate the App;
- If required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or property;
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you will be notified).
Reviews and ratings you choose to post may be visible to other users.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see “Your Rights” below).
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at james@perfumos.app. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom (GDPR)
We process your personal data on the following legal bases: to perform our contract with you (providing the App), with your consent (where required, e.g. certain analytics), and for our legitimate interests (improving and securing the App). You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, to withdraw consent at any time, and to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing.” We do not sell your personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact us at james@perfumos.app.
International Data Transfers
PerfumOS is available globally, and your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including the United States, where our service providers (such as AWS, OpenAI, and others listed above) operate. These countries may have different data protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers. By using the App, you understand your information may be transferred and processed in these locations.
Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing james@perfumos.app. You may also delete your account directly from within the App’s settings.
Children’s Privacy
PerfumOS is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
